The DVDs were amazing but the new Blu-Rays are tons better again.

Those VHS tapes were always a rip off, IMHO. I never bought any of them.

Series 5 went up £11 in the same time... and then it started appearing in the Amazon emails.

We can talk all we like about niche value and how the money is comparable to the VHS tapes, but this is still price-gouging. It's not about the studio valuing the product; it's about the studio valuing the profit and knowing that a niche audience will pay for it because they have no other options. (This is also, BTW, one of the things that's keeping younger viewers from this show: lack of streaming availability and prohibitive pricing on the DVD/Blu-ray releases).

Whatever the format (Beta, VHS, DVD, or Blu-ray), The Avengers on video is a bargain at any price (which is to say that the series is "priceless"). I will, however, wait for series 6 on UK Blu-ray.

My preorder for Series 6 shipped to the States from Amazon UK would cost me $100. My preorder from Amazon DE would cost me $47. While I'd prefer the box to have English writing on it, I can't deny the savings of over $50 so I'm canceling my UK preorder.
