Re: 6.16 - Legacy of Death
I hadn't watched this one in ages. The Britbox version is also the everyone's on helium version.
I've always enjoyed this as the characters are all such fun.
Gorky repeatedly smashing all of Steed's glasses - great performance from Tutte Lemkow
Steed: I have a feeling it's going to be one of those days!
Steed: "Excuse the mess" - as he welcomes Sidney Street into his apartment with three corpses under a blanket. LOL
Stratford John spinning a yarn about his grandmother hoping to con Steed that the Dagger is his.
Oppenheimer "Don't move I've got you covered!"
Steed: "With a stethoscope..?"
The rubbish assassin who goes to leap onto Steed and Tara but mistimes it and knocks himself out.
Lots of wonderfully silly moments.
I don't think it's an especially great effort from director Don Chaffey but he got an effective cast together.
Always entertaining. 7/10

Re: 6.16 - Legacy of Death
I tried to marry the restored picture of the helium version with the fixed sound of the "contrast wowing" broken picture version. But it defeated my technical skills. So now I put up with the helium one, or go back to the old Contender DVD and suffer the unrestored picture. Is there a BluRay with a fixed one? That would swing me into buying Season 6 on BluRay.
I do enjoy this episode as it has loads of actors I love in it, and it is just so daft - if you're going to go over the top, don't do it half-heartedly, go really over the top!

Re: 6.16 - Legacy of Death
I can't confirm it but I'm sure I read that the season 6 blu-ray of legacy of Death doesn't have any issues (I've asked on Roobarbs). Update: a guy on Roobarbs Forum told me that it was corrected for the blu-ray.
I just checked the AppleTV download and that's the flickery DVD version.

Re: 6.16 - Legacy of Death
I'll check my bluray today, from memory it was the best ever.
(But, for marrying good soundtracks with good pictures, try mkvtoolnix gui, it's a doddle to use - just import your two videos, then deselect the unwanted audio and video tracks, and export).

Re: 6.16 - Legacy of Death
Bluray definitely has nicely restored video and correct audio. The video is grainier than the series 4 and 5 bluray restorations, but it doesn't strobe.

Re: 6.16 - Legacy of Death
I am happy to report that the Australian BluRay in the new Tara King Collection set from Imprint does not have any issues.
Finally I have a decent copy of this episode!
It's very silly but very fun.
The subtitles (English for hard of hearing, closed captions) are really excellent, I noticed no mistakes on even unusual phrases and names, and the font is very clear.
