Clayton Hickman: "I've been working on graphics for a TV documentary lately, and I wanted to really get to grips with Premiere & After Effects. So, naturally, I decided the best test was to remake the Season 3 title sequence for 'The Avengers' from scratch. In HD. And widescreen. So here they are!"

Re: Avengers videotape era titles in HD
Thanks for sharing this!
I posted a few years ago a link to turning some of the oldest bits of film into HD. If and when AI makes it cheap enough I think old TV will get the HD make over, because the market for watching grainy video will be smaller than watching it upgraded.
If for one am quite enthusiastic about it provided it the aspect ratio is not changed and it isn't colourised. But just upgrading an not adding to it, seems a plus to me.

Re: Avengers videotape era titles in HD
I've been rewatching episodes in 4K on my computer and PotPlayer does a stunning job at upscaling. Obviously more so for series 4-6 from bluray originals, but series 3 benefitted enormously.
I'm *possibly* going to have to re-upgrade my series 2 cast photos, the difference is so good.

I wonder how long it will be before they're using AI to upscale them... possibly to 8K...

Re: Avengers videotape era titles in HD
I can see some improvement, its more noticeable with moving imagery I would think.
But I can´t say I see a world of difference.
I still is very good though, given the tiny flickering screens people original saw it on.

Re: Avengers videotape era titles in HD
hard to say, if the improvements are that vast..so to speak..what snippets I've seen, do look good..in monochrome....so I'm not sure, how much better they can be made to look....I'm open interested in improving some of the sound/vocal tracks..perhaps AI, could do this..i.e. mimic the actors in question, since they have passed on.....and yeah, compared to what was first seen on those original b/w tv screens, the upgrades do look very well..
