On March 16 1977, New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory viewers instead saw a Rod Stewart concert film, Rod the Mod Comes of Age instead of Three Handed Game. Victoria stuck to their guns and showed the Rod Stewart concert on the Friday night, March 18 1977. As a consequence, in NSW and the ACT, viewers had to wait until the 11th of May to see Three Handed Game, the week after the nationally pre-empted Sleeper.
This episode was shown in the Netherlands on December 2 1976, three days before it was broadcast on any ITV region in the UK.
Continuity and trivia
Is it just me, or does Juventor remind you of Waldo Thyssen with his manic manner, neatly clipped moustache and stuttering speech?
Those clowns! If it weren’t enough that every second episode of the Tara King season seemed to have clowns in it, now we have Purdey mucking about in the dressing room, putting clown makeup on. Enough already!
This episode has a video Q&A and commentary with David Wood and Philip Hawkins on the Lives in the Pictures YouTube channel.
