As discussed in other topics, the perceived pitch problems are only an issue for those used to NTSC broadcasts. This is a UK release so I'd expect it to be the 25fps we remember here, like every other film transmitted on PAL.ikbtops wrote:For $116 here's to hoping the audio is pitch corrected and Laurie Johnson's theme is in the correct key- C. NOT C#/Db. at least that way I'll know the dialogue is in the right pitch as well.
Not that I think there will be many people to care at that price! Amazon - UK

Personally, I hope they issue the episodes at 24 frames progressive, which will match how they were *shot*, which is surely what we should be aiming for. They were only ever speeded up in the UK/Europe for purely technical reasons, and those reasons no longer exist.
Also, since we know the sound is an issue, if they do them at 25 frames/second then we will most likely have sound pitched 8% too high as evidenced by the 24p sound on the US discs being pitched 4% higher than it should be.
This problem appears to be burned into the HD masters.

Most uninformed post ever. Blu-ray is 24fps, Blu-ray isn't PAL.NickP wrote:As discussed in other topics, the perceived pitch problems are only an issue for those used to NTSC broadcasts. The Avengers should play at 24fps, as the original audio should too.
The pitch is wrong and the product needs a recall.
I never said Blu-Ray was PAL and Blu-Ray can be 24 or 25 or a number of other frame rates.seventeen wrote:

I was merely pointing out that The Avengers was shown at 25fps on UK TV therefore a 25fps Blu-Ray is unlikely to get the pitch complaints it does in the U.S.
And this Blu-Ray isn't even released until next February so it's a bit early to be demanding a recall!
Not that I'm worried as I won't be buying it.
