A new box set of 12 DVD's is released to celebrate 60 years of ITV shows.
It only contains one 'Avengers' episode but it's great to see that Steed and Mrs Peel feature strongly on the cover.

Only just noticed this thread! Yes, it is curious that, from a licensing perspective, The Avengers was included on the set given that ITV doesn't own any merchandising rights on the series. A deal must have been struck with Studio Canal......

I personally would love a complete series boxset of The Avengers on bluray total or series 1-3 on dvd and 4-6 on bluray. Ideally put in the same box as the 50th Anniversary Avengers dvd set. Seasons 1-3 could easily fit on 4 bluray discs in SD. I...

For yrs, I've owned the original peel mega set, that A&E put out..and loved it, despite having el zippo for extras...and the dvd's,did look better than the previous VHS issues....in 2013, Lionsgate put out their version of the PEEL mega set...16...

If the 576 line source were literally upscaled to 1080, then might as well stick to the current DVD encoding.

If the telecine film were scanned by a 1K scanner or higher, then I would be for having it on Blu-Ray.
But it's only going to be 405-line...

The whole point is that 625 lines do not marry up with the 405, whereas 1080 lines will more accurately resolve them. It's not just mathematics, either, as I've seen the results for myself so I'm not just going at this from a theoretical standpoint....

Starting in 2003 with the Peel colour episodes and soon followed by the Tara King episodes were first released, fans had to wait...

Does anyone know if there are plans to release the film episodes on Blu Ray?

I seem to remember that there was talk of a French edition but my memory may be playing tricks!

I was wondering how long my Avengers box sets of dvd's will last? I ask because tonight I tried to watch Octopussy which is in my Roger Moore Ultimate edition box set of Bond films and it kept sticking and eventually wouldn't play. I bought this box...

Just a few thoughts:

- I don't think that even conventional DVD's/CD last 100 years in a playable condition; I think it's more like 20-25 years.

- The glue that messed up on your Bond set was (I bet) involved in attaching the image to the top...
