take the tour
What's New?
- 20 July 2008
- The fifth season has been updated with the
1502 mugshots, and along the way I've added several new extras
and removed 27 enlargements and 7 redundant mugshots.
- 8 July 2008
- I've just heard from Spike Heatley again and he's corrected my
information for Kenny Powell's trio
- the other musicians are Jack Parnell on drums and Lennie Bush on bass.
Jack was the leader of the Jack Parnell Orchestra, with a regular gig at
Ronnie Scott's as well as being the conductor and leader of ATV's in-house
band for recording television scores - Kenny and Lennie were in both his
orchestra and the ATV band so it's odd that Jack wasn't listed as the trio
leader (although Kenny and other accompianists were sometimes listed as
the leader or conductor of other people's bands at the time).
- 30 June 2008
- Suddenly realised where I'd seen the sheik from A Touch of Brimstone before - it's 30s & 40s
film star Garry Marsh in one of his three
appearances in The Avengers.
The 1967/8 Emma Peel season has been reworked
to only have four pages per episode - the reviews, cars, kills and fashions
are now on one page.
- 23 June 2008
- The fourth season has been updated with the
1502 mugshots, and along the way I've added ten new extras,
removed two duplications and nine redundant mugshots. Ten extras from The Hour that Never Was have been removed until
I sort them out properly. I've also verified that Peter Bowles is
not the dead MP and Terry Plummer is not the nuffled sentry.
The name of Kenneth Benda's character in A Sense
of History has been corrected.
The season has been reworked to only have four pages per episode - the cars,
trivia, kills and reviews are now on one page.
- 8 May 2008
- The third season has been updated with
the 1502 mugshots, and along the way I've added an additional
105 extras and identified a few of them - Billy Cornelius and Rick Jones,
plus another regular The Prisoner stuntman I can't quite put my
finger on.
- 20 March 2008
- The Tara King season has been updated
with the 1502 mugshots, which resulted in the removal of a few
duplicate extras, and the addition of some new ones - all up there's an
increase of 13 additional characters.
The calendar has been updated, thanks to Wayne for noticing Gareth's age
was wrong.
- 4 March 2008
- Fresh on the heels of the Season Two
update, I've been in touch with virtuoso jazz bassist
Spike Heatley,
who has confirmed he was the bass player in Dave Lee's trio for the
Julie Stevens episodes.
- 3 March 2008
- The world keeps turnin' round - UK band Brigadier Ambrose
are releasing a new single called Mrs Peel, We're Needed on April
14. You can hear the song on their myspace page and they're
getting good airplay on BBC radio as I type this. Caught myself singing the
song yesterday while I was out shopping - brilliant!
- 2 March 2008
- Autumn heralds the update of Season
Two with the 1502 mugshots - including the addition of
around 20 extras previously unrecorded, and about another 15 to capture.
Notable is the spotting of Ray Browne as the
corpse at the beginning of Man in the
Mirror.
- 18 February 2008
- Given the paucity of material for the 1961
season, I've made it my starting point for new mugshots, nine times
bigger than previously used - 150x150 instead of 50x50. Some have been
replaced with better images, and it's uncovered that
Dennis Edwards was missing from the list of
regular guests.
- 12 February 2008
- They Keep Killing Steed now has a full
episode description and new trivia.
- 8 February 2008
- Have Guns, will Haggle now has a full
episode description and new trivia.
- 7 February 2008
- Gareth Hunt's birthday coincides with a short outage of the site
as my registrar refuses to let go of the domain and forces me to shell
out double the renewal cost - avoid AustDomains!
- 6 February 2008
- As a birthday present to Patrick Macnee - 86 today - I present
Legacy of Death,
Noon Doomsday and Look- (stop me if you've
heard this one) but There Were These Two Fellers... with full
episode descriptions and new trivia, as well as addenda and
corrigenda to the trail of carnage.
As another bonus, the search page has
been fixed - Google changed things and I didn't notice.
- 22 January 2008
- Added "This Week in Avengers History" to the
home page, which received a bit of restructure as a result.
- 21 January 2008
- False Witness and
All Done with Mirrors receive a full
episode description and new trivia, and a
new mugshot for Nurse Betty.
- 9-10 January 2008
- A new feature added to this page - a calendar of Avengers events over
there on the righthand side - either the current week, moth, or the entire
year. I'll add more events as I notice them, I've purloined the current
list, with a very few additions of my own, from Cal Westray's collation of
the Slow Dazzle calendars.
Elsewhere, the fashion guide has been
corrected - Emma wears an art nouveau shift over bermuda shorts, not over
a tunic.
