What's New?

20 April 2007
Housekeeping - Season 3 is now in line with the other page styles, and I've modified the colours of the colour Emma Peel episodes and font sizes for Tara King.
12 April 2007
If it's not work, it's play but I'm still on the case - the script excerpts from Warlock have been added but still need a slight revision - I've packed all my DVDs so can't check everything until I've moved into my new house.
Elsewhere, Season Four has acquired a more glamorous look and I've amended some of the trivia for Town on No Return.
4 April 2007
Work has been keeping me busy but I've still found time to tweak the colour scheme of the colour Emma Peel episodes - including variation for the sub-seasons. I'm currently re-reading Macnee's The Avengers and Me and have found a few nuggets of information it'd be worth inserting into the site - the first of which is more detail about the missing reels of Hot Snow.
Oh, and I've finally uploaded the images missing from the Chessboard intro page, sorry about the inconvenience.
22 March 2007
It's been irritating me for a while that my Emma Peel episodes page was still called episodes.html and I didn't have a proper combined guide to all the seasons. Well, now I do, and here it is - two columns of random feature images flanking a list of the seasons, each description expandable into a mini episode list, linking to all the episodes.
This means I've fixed the worst part of the site's top navigation as well.
21 March 2007
The 'Chess board' intro has now been added to the Emma Peel episode guide.

Sad news
Gareth Hunt, who played Mike Gambit in The New Avengers has died from pancreatic cancer, a month after his 64th birthday. He will be remembered with affection by Avengers fans everywhere and by us especially, I recall seeing him only a few months ago in a cameo role - as himself - in Stephen Fry's comedy, Absolute Power. This site has been dressed in black as a sign of our respect. It seems appropriate to say goodbye to an RSC thespian with a quotation from Shakespeare.
Farewell, sweet Prince, the hope of chivalry!
O, would my life might ransom him from death!

The boy who cried Patricia - I thought I might have been premature in declaring it's Patricia Haines playing the dying Katrina Sandor in Girl on the Trapeze, as Nadja Regin was billed in The Radio Times listing, albeit for the wrong character. So I've closely study portraits of both actresses and can definitely say it's not Nadja - her nose and chin are too sharp, the actress playing Katrina has Patricia's strong but rounded jaw.

In other news, mugshots for Susan Castle (Hunt the Man Down) and Astor Sklair (Hot Snow) have been added, and characters mentioned in Dave Rogers' episode descriptions which weren't billed in The Radio Times have been added to the affected episodes.

5 March 2007
Many thanks to David K Smith for allowing me to use some of his images to fill gaps in my mugshots - two new added so far, with another five or six to come, and several others improved or replaced with shots from the actual episodes; I've also tracked down a shot of dear old Gordon Phillott, from an episode of Hancock's Half Hour and added five episode production stills I scanned from books (to Diamond Cut Diamond, Double Danger, The Tunnel of Fear, and The Deadly Air) which resulted in the addition of four extras from The Tunnel of Fear.
3 March 2007
Just spotted Gerry Duggan in a production still for Hunt the Man Down, playing the role of Stacey's goon, Rocky - information that was missing from the Radio Times listing!
Season One also updated to include other credits for the crew.
28 February 2007
Added Season Two to the Square Root of Evil guide and corrected a few typos along the way.
I'll do the same for Season One soon but there's not much point with the lack of material.
27 February 2007
Added Season Two to the transport list and The Killing Fields.
24 February 2007
The Ministry archives have been expanded to cover 1960-3 as well but 1960-1 is necessarily incomplete and an army of archivists are working around the clock now to uncover additional information.
Twenty-seven additional mugshots for Season One and another twenty improved, making all but two regulars now illustrated. I have thirty-five faces to go but as the remainder are mostly bit part players it'll be slow going. A rehearsal still shows this actor that I haven't yet identified, can anyone confirm if she's Hazel Graeme or Nina Marriot?
15 February 2007
A shocking oversight - I'd forgotten to cover the three-minute promotional spot for the upcoming colour season, The Strange Case of the Missing Corpse; all is rectified, however, and it now takes its rightful place at the end of Season 4 - the only time we see Mrs Peel in that tight leather catsuit in colour! Hubba...
9 February 2007
I'm happy to announce that Season One is ready and includes a few surprises - such as Patricia Haines in an (almost) non-speaking part in Girl on the Trapeze. Readers should note that I have written full descriptions for the footage we still have available to us while, for now, the other episodes are described using Chris Perry's excellent summaries.
Mug shots for the missing episodes have been collected from stills of the episodes or, where no material exists, I have researched and compiled portraits of the actors involved, using photographs from 1961 wherever possible. Readers will note there are still gaps and should consider this a work in progress.
19 January 2007
I'm happy to announce that Season Two is complete and now linked from the main index of the site, although I'm yet to insert the (very few) cars from the season into the main transport index. Now for Season One!
22 December 2006
Merry Christmas! - didn't quite make it through Season Two, but I do have two more episodes for you from 1963.
11 December 2006
Another four episodes for Season Two which now covers up to episode 20.
22 November 2006
Another four episodes for Season Two which now covers up to episode 16.
7 November 2006
It's been five months now, and I'm only halfway there - Season Two is taking me ages, partly because I'm doing full scene-by-scene episode descriptions. I'm finding myself greatly enjoying Dr King and Venus Smith, I don't know why others don't like them. Anyway, the practical upshot is I'll never be finished by the end of the year, so I'm 'pre-releasing' the first 12 episodes - Season Two. Note that there are files for episodes 13-26, but they're empty and worthless (So I'll turn off the links for now, just to keep my error log clean).
21 July 2006
If you're reading this, you're seeing the site running off our new United States-based hosting service - quicker and bigger than before. As a consequence, I'm going through the site to find anything that was left behind; if you spot anything, let me know!
I've also taken the opportunity to add the 'Other Shows' icons against actors' names in The New Avengers which resulted in correcting omissions and errors in the Regular Visitors and Other Shows lists.
Now I can get back to building the Season Two pages...
