What's New? |
Competition time!
Our good friends at Universal Pictures Video have given us a
copy of the new Avengers 1967 boxed set to give away, and we have to say it's
fantastic! Light on paper inserts, but with episode descriptions
based on those supplied by dissolute technologies (that is to
say, us), 7 shiny discs in squeaky new slipcases and the best
photo gallery we've ever seen on a DVD - even we had never seen some
of these photos before, and we've seen a lot of
Avengers-related photos. The behind the scenes shots are great.
Technical overview: image transfer and audio are superior to the A&E
sets, but there is still some marks on screen from damage to the
original prints - scratches, concrete marks, film grain, but it's
pretty minimal. The colour reproduction is good, if occassionally
muddy, but that's due to the masters as well. Seeing the Avengers
remastered in PAL instead of NTSC is a good thing.
Region 4 readers, rejoice! Universal's PAL DVD release of the Emma
Peel boxset has been released, with a RRP of $99.95 - (or even cheaper!
- see
here for more information (should have asked me to build the minisite,
the guy who did it just did a five minute Dreamweaver job, and I bet he
charged them a pretty penny for it!)
The Avengers on DVD, in Australia, this time for sure!In other news, Jenna Clayton contributes more continuity errors for both The Town of No Return and The Winged Avenger, while Nigel Wassell updates us on the trains in A Funny Thing Happened... on the Way to the Station.
