Stay Tuned vol 2

Post by Big Bear »

So excited to share the cover for our new book, Stay Tuned to The Avengers Volume Two. Couldnt believe it when Dave Rogers called and said we can get legendary artist Pete Wallbank to illustrate the cover. Pete had originally worked on Stay Tuned covers and interior artwork back in the 90's.

This volume also has an exclusive interview with Pete about his work.

Stay Tuned to The Avengers Volume Two will be available 21/10/22
All profits go to the children's charity Holding On Letting Go.

Terrific artwork on the cover. :) This is an excellent way for all those fans who missed out on the old fanzines. I bought every issue from 1985 when it used to be called On target. I still miss the old fanzine popping through the letterbox every few months.

Thanks all, book will be available next Friday 21st October. I will post a link when it goes live.

I still miss those pre internet days of getting fanzines. This one is full of nostalgia :D

ditto....I still prefer to hold one in my hands...and absorb it...over the internet version. for yrs, there used to be a magazine called Factsheet Five, and they pretty much reviewed and listed every fanzine from around the world..it was a wonderful tool to connect with other zines, ( ON just about any subject ) world wide. I was sad, when it ceased printing....as I've been doing my fanzine since mid 1987...82 issues to date. how time flies

I'd agree with that. Those old fanzines were quite special. I'm glad I've kept them all! There was quite a fun one from the US called With umbrella, charm and bowler, which was in the format of a newspaper. I think there were 10 issues and I've got the last 5. The earliest Avengers fanzine was I believe En garde in the late 60s. I haven't got these and they probably cost an arm and a leg now. There was a short-lived one called Bizarre in the early 90's. Only 3 issues and I'm sorry to say I wasn't impressed. However head and shoulder above all these is the brilliant Stay tuned. The last issue was 1999 and am I right in thinking this is the last ever Avengers fanzine to date :?: I was lucky enough to buy the first 9 issues from 1983-1984 on ebay a few years ago. Stay tuned was called On target then. The issue pictured top left was the very first one and is unusual as it's a poster magazine. https://apis.mail.yahoo.com/ws/v3/mailb ... rrinLaunch
