cyberrich: "I seem to remember Linda saying in an interview that she acquired the Europa after filming was over on the series, but that she no longer had it. Must belong to a collector somewhere."

Ha-ha, is this where it ended up?

Well there's one theory gone.

I won't ask who it is, but if they had got it are they the kind of person who would have driven it around wearing a three-piece suit and a bowler hat?

Yes, I thought it might be. He did indicate this to me several times, but after the first time I didn't know if he was serious and I advised winning the lottery before making a bid.

Hammer price £62,000, with 12% buyer's premium (plus VAT) I make that a whisker under £71K.

From purely a car point of view that is, imho, a ridiculous price. It will take a lot more money to restore and it is hard to see it ever being worth that amount. I'm assuming the buyer is an Avengers enthusiast and is happy with their purchase for non-economic reasons.

George Best's Jaguar E-Type Coupe in the same sale at £43,000 was an absolute bargain by comparison.
