Re: Filming at Beaulieu
How time flies. I was convinced I posted pictures last year but it seems it was Sept 2021. Anyway, I was there again on a brilliantly warm and sunny day. A new information board has been placed outside the Clock House with a reference (slightly inaccurate) to The Avengers . It is written from the pe...

Re: There's That Finger...Again!!!
For the vast majority of people in the UK in the 1960s, the middle finger had no meaning. The British equivalent was the "V sign", as demonstrated by Steve McQueen in the film Le Mans. https://tm-img.com/images/2024/03/26/Steve-McQueen-film.md.jpeg Of course that doesn't rule out Patrick k...

Re: John Savident (1938-2024)
He had such a long and varied career that most people will have a memory of him in one production or another. For me, he will always be Forrester in Tightrope.

Re: John Steed's TNA Jaguar for sale
Thanks to the Avengers Mark 1 Appreciation Society for flagging this up on Facebook: a recent YouTube video on the Jaguar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruR_tyA-gik Only historical information, sadly, no further updates on the actual car. Interesting anyway and some previously unseen footage of th...

Re: The Avengers on video - guide?
I recall there was an individual freelance photographer who sent invoices for ridiculously large amounts of money to website owners. I remember it resulted in the loss of a very good website of old "Radio Times" covers.

Re: Gordon Jackson
One of his early roles is the 1945 film Pink String and Sealing Wax , which is centred around the family of a pharmacist in Brighton. It gets fairly frequent showings on Talking Pictures TV. Gordon plays the eldest son and manages a very good South of England, middle-class accent. Unfortunately, he'...

Re: Gareth Hunt
That Beryl Marston was one of the last gasps of Southern Television, who had already lost their IBA franchise before it was even shown. The incoming franchise holder, TVS, had a policy of "everything new" and didn't take over anything from Southern. Sadly TBM went the same way as Out of T...

Re: Diana Rigg
^^^ I enjoyed Sarah Phelps's adaptation of And Then There Were None and I thought Witness For The Procescution was excellent. It all went completely to pot after that though. The ABC Murders , one of my favourites of all of Christie's works, was completely ruined, Phelps didn't seem to understand th...

Re: Emma Peel's Lotus
My second-ever car was an MGB Roadster, it was a 1969 model and I drove it for several years. The Elan was more expensive and much rarer, but one parked next to me once in the office carpark and I remember thinking I wouldn't swap.
